Fun Day!!! - 5th August - Beccles Yacht Station
Hello Everyone
Well the best laid plans for the Funday! Thanks to Storm Antoni we had to abandon all plans for the afternoon games. Thankfully the gazebos were erected on Friday although the joint allowed the rain to come through, but by Saturday evening the rain had abated and were able to enjoy a raffle, Bingo with Bim and then music and singing from John, Bim and Kath. Many thanks to them for keeping us entertained. Sunday was a day for relaxing and the gazebos, dried out thanks to the windy weather, were dismantled and stored on Ocean Way, ready for next year.
For those of you not aware - Ken slipped getting on the boat on Sunday evening and fell into the water, smashing his hip on the quay heading; an ambulance was called and he was admitted to the James Paget. He had a hip replacement operation last Wednesday. Stephen and I went to visit yesterday (Tuesday) - he's in good spirits and is hoping to be moved to Chelmsford hospital as soon as they can arrange a bed and physio. He's disappointed to be missing the Chill Out at Rockland Short Dyke on the bank holiday weekend and also the Quiz Night at Coldham Hall but hopes to be fit enough for the en😊d of season event at the end of October. Thanks to Dave and John for taking Lady Grace back to St Olaves.
I hope you are looking forward to the Quiz Night at Coldham Hall - 16th September - don't forget to get your food choices in as soon as possible. The main event is the End of Season buffet, music by Maria Sax on 21st October. Details later.
What I would like now are nominations for the
1. Broken Oar
2. Challenge Cup
I have an idea for the Paul Hodgson Trophy which is usually awarded to the winning games team.
The Commodore's Cup is presented to the Quiz Night winning team.
With best wishes
Angela
Update:
Ken is back home recuperating and in good spirit. (John)
