Start Of Season Dinner and AGM - 22nd and 23rd April - The Ferry House Surlingham - Report

Friday

A sunny/cloudy day with a cool breeze.

I arrived and got moored at about 1.30pm, solo as Sandra wasn't well, eight club boats already there. Four more boats arrived after me and we spent the afternoon catching up. Sonia came over and sorted out the seating and menus for the weekend.

I went over to the pub for a pint in the evening where most members were enjoying a meal.

Saturday

Another sunny/cloudy day and a bit of a cool breeze but no rain!

Many of us had breakfast in the pub, very nice as always.

Bill and Sandra were the last boat to arrive making fourteen boats in all, a good turn out, several boats were dressed with St Georges flags.

Several members arrived by car in the afternoon and again we sat chatting over a pint.

We all went over to the pub in the evening and 37 sat down and enjoyed a good meal.

Bim and I played after dinner and Bob joined us for a few songs. We wrapped it up about 11pm and returned to our boats after a nice evening.

Sunday

It rained in the night but again it was a sunny/cloudy day.

37 members attended the AGM in the morning and enjoyed coffee and bacon rolls provided by Sonia and team.

Angela was voted in as the new club secretary to replace Ken who decided to stand down after some 14 years in the post.

A big thank you to Ken for all he's done for the club over the years, and good luck to Angela in her new role.

The meeting finished at about 11.30.

Most of us left by midday leaving a few who were staying another night.

14 boats and 6 cars, another successful club meet and a big thank you to Sonia and team for feeding and looking after us.

Also a big thank you to Dave for going to get Pete and Sandras boat, Opus II started so they could attend.

Look forward to seeing you all at Loddon next month.

Cheers John.
